Chain Extender for polyesters

Description and technical specifications

Chain Extender/viscosity enhancer for polyesters. Additive in masterbatch form used to increase both molecular weight and viscosity of the polymer. The chain extension occurs chemically into the melted polymer during the extrusion process where the active substances, dispersed into the masterbatch, react chemically with the hydroxyl groups of the polyester oligomer

Particularly suitable to increase the percentage of recycled product in the formulation and, in general, to improve the mechanical properties of the finished products.

Two main grades are available depending on the carrier used to disperse the active substances (PET or PBT). Using virgin PBT you can better preserve the active substances during the production of the masterbatch itself, still providing a good compatibility with the final polyesters (generally PET, PBT and PBT modified with elastomers).

PET sheets/films extrusion, PET fibers and PET foams are the most important application fields.

All grades are suitable to be used in plastics that come in contact with food.

How to Use

In order to obtain the best results in terms of molecular weight increasing, we suggest to use this masterbatch with twin-screw extruders.
In this way you optimize the mixing between the polymer and the additive. The product can be dried before the usage and the addition level is between 0.3% and 1,0% depending on the grades.
